Welcome to the coalition to reinstate the license of Dr. Donna H. Simons. A wonderful veterinarian!
|
Let me start out by saying I was never a friend of Dr. Simons, she was our veterinarian for
over twelve years but our relationship with her was strictly professional. If you have the idea
that I am a friend or relative you are mistaken.
I choose to set up the coalition to reinstate the license Dr. Simons held to practice
veterinarian medicine at my own free will because this is someone I truly believe in and I
have reason to believe what happened to her was a set-up by people who knew her.
Why I think this: We live in a pretty small area and people talk; you hear the gossip quite
often, most of it goes in my right ear and out the left very quickly but as the Dr. Simons
drama unfolded I began to remember things people had said through the (approximately)
two years this took place.
The first bit of gossip I remember hearing is that Dr. Simons was very wealthy. I found that
hard to believe as she had such a small office; an old fashion country veterinarian, she
reminded me of a James Herriot novel. However, I suppose an income of fifty or ninety
thousand a year is "wealth" to some people. We each have our own idea of wealth.
Months later I heard Dr. Simons and her husband of 30 plus years were divorcing. That was
really sad:-( I heard that he had Alzheimer's and probably didn't know what he was doing but
that was rumor and I didn't think most of it was true.
Months later I heard that her estranged husband and his (large) family were out to get Dr.
Simons for every penny they could and destroy her in the process. Talk about a bad break up!
However, this was just rumor, right?
The gossip continued... Talk of a set-up to ruin Dr. Simons, money being promised to people
who would help and all kinds of nutty innuendo. At the time I thought it was just wild
imagination. Now I regret thinking like that because here we are a few years later and
Dr. Simons was set up and was ruined and did loose everything. I do not think she was
wealthy but considering she is a much older lady it had to be a decent nest-egg.
She wasn't a friend of mine but she was the best veterinarian we have ever had! And believe
me we had MANY pets; we live on several acres and there is room here for all kinds of
critters so we had them:-) And Dr. Simons cared for them and as our children grew up and
left home Dr. Simons cared for their pets also. She's was the ONLY veterinarian in the area
who cared for animals because she loved them. If you couldn't pay she would take care of
your pet anyway. She never cared much about money but obviously someone else did...
Dr. Simons now lives in near poverty and it sickens me to see this older lady completely
destroyed. Her license was suspended for some very peculiar reasons, I read all of the
complaints and I do not agree with a single one. Also, someone embezzled most of her
money. I do not know how old she is but too old to start over and start a new retirement for
herself.
We have decided to help her. Please join us in our demands to have her license reinstated!
She absolutely deserves our help! Not to mention the animals! Do you personally know how
many animals are euthanized every day because owners can not afford medical care?
Dr. Simons' rates were always extremely low, about one half of the other veterinarians and
everyone knew she would help your pet(s) regardless of your ability to pay! I never needed
that kind of help but it was reassuring to know if I ever did it was there.
The animals of Antrim and Otsego counties and many further areas were healthy because we
had a this rare gem of a doctor. Shame on the people who's greed and hatred took away the
only person who loved them all.

About 9 years ago, I had a kitten that was very Ill
and needed emergency surgery. I brought him to you
Dr. Donna to help him. I told you I only had $50.00
you said that might help cover some of the supplies.
You told me I could bring you pop cans, if nothing
else, every week until I paid the rest of my debt. You
operated on her and saved her life and I am forever
grateful!
A vet like you is very hard to find! It is a shame what
I have heard has happened to you and your beloved
vet office! I can only pray and hope you get your
license back asap. Best regards
~ Heidi Scott
You know I love and support you. Thank you soooo
much for being there for my family and pets through
the years. You are the only one I would call for my
pets.
I'm glad to see I am not the only one that recognizes
your awesomeness!!! Good Luck!

If not for Dr. Simons I know my cats would have
died many years ago. Because of her I had one that
lived to age 25 and the second one lived to be 22.
I do not believe any other vet could have kept them
healthy and well for that long.
We need Dr. Simons!
~Steve
Dr. Simons was always wonderful
to my animals! I had several pass
through her office over the years,
and all left her care happy and
healthy! Also, one of my dearest
friends in the world was employed
in her office, and is a highly
regarded person in the Mancelona
area, as a firemen, and a wonderful
man. I know for a fact, that if any
of the accusations had any truth to
them, he wouldn't have worked for
her. The fire chief also worked for
her, and is also well-known, and a
very respectable man. Her office
was very professional, and she was
very kind. Her prices saved many
animals, and kept many others
from giving birth to unwanted
babies. If ever someone needed
emergency care for their animal,
she would provide it, with no
money up front, because that is
the type of person she is. It's
wrong that Dr. Simons isn't able to
help all of us anymore! How can so
many low income families afford to
have a pet??? Dr. Simons's license
needs to be reinstated!
for all those animals who will
continue die without a vet who has
a heart...
